Mendy Ford's Journey
Mendy is an orphan at Orphanage for Girls. The Orphanage for Girls has a special thing called the Flower Walk every Sunday. The Flower Walk is where all thirty girls at Orphanage for Girls give marigolds to all the neighbors in the neighborhood near the orphanage. Mendy has a strange feeling that something bad will happen during the Flower Walk, but she has to go because if she refuses there will be consequences from Mrs. Becky. So, she goes on the Flower Walk. Mrs. Becky asks Mendy to go across the street to give two houses some marigolds. She walks to the first house, it is completely normal. The next house, well, it was not normal. It was about sixty feet tall and was painted all black and grey, absolutely no color in sight. A cloaked man walks out of the house and takes her inside, he mumbles some spells and she falls to sleep. She wakes up in a cage. There are about fifteen girls in the other cages staring at her. They have all been kidnapped. She meets them and learns all their names, all their names are: Lainy, Avery, Sophie, Athena, Tilly, Forena, Cailey, Melony, Sydney, Valory, Josie, Skyler, Alayna, Ashley, and Danielle. After they meet, the man who kidnapped them walks in, he tells them that he has decided that he is going to kill them all the next day, which was not very smart. Mendy is a great lock picker, and it happens that there is a paper clip in her pocket. It takes her a while, but she picks her own lock, then she picks everyone else's lock. The door is locked, so they rip the plaster and everything off the wall and escape. But Mendy forgot, her orphanage had left to find a different location to live, they had moved the orphanage to Colorado, and they live in Utah. They all go on a long, sweat trickling journey to find the orphanage and run away from their kidnapper.
